Same-Day or Near Same-Day Jobs
Some glass jobs can be completed quickly, sometimes the same day they’re scheduled.
These typically involve
Standard annealed glass that can be cut to size on-site
Simple hardware repairs, like rollers, locks, or sash balances, provided the parts are in stock. Some hardware is common enough to keep on hand, while other pieces, like certain sash balances, may need to be special ordered with lengthy lead times.
Keep in mind that even quick jobs are scheduled around our current workload. As a small, family-run company, we’re often able to turn jobs around fast, but depending on what else is on the schedule, it may be 1 to 2 weeks out. We’ll always give you an honest timeframe when you reach out.
Jobs That Typically Take a Few Days to a Couple of Weeks
Many residential and light commercial jobs fall into a middle range, with timing that depends on the specific glass being ordered.
This often includes
Tempered
glass replacements, since tempered glass must be custom-ordered and manufactured rather than cut on-site. A realistic turnaround is typically 2 to 4 business days.
Standard IGU (insulated glass unit) replacements, which generally run 5 to 7 business days depending on the type of glass involved.
Mirror replacements. There’s no true standard mirror size, but smaller mirrors can often be cut and installed quickly. Typically 3-5 business days.
The exact timeline depends on manufacturing and shipping for the specific glass type, which can vary based on supplier availability.
Jobs That May Take Longer
Larger or more complex jobs naturally take more time to plan and complete.
These can include
Full window replacements involving a new frame. Anywhere from 7-10 business days and up depending on size and quantity.
Specialty glass, including color, decorative, or thicker glass
Custom shapes that require a pattern to be traced on-site by a technician before the glass can be ordered. Full turnaround on jobs like this can run 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the manufacturer’s requirements.
New shower enclosures. The more unique the layout and custom it is, the longer it takes. In general, a new frameless shower enclosure takes approximately 2-3 weeks from initial measurement to final install.
For these projects, scheduling an in-person assessment early is especially helpful, since it allows accurate measurements and ordering to begin as soon as possible.
What Affects Turnaround the Most
A few factors tend to make the biggest difference in how quickly a job can be completed:
Glass type. Standard annealed glass is the fastest to source. Tempered, laminated, and specialty glass all require more lead time.
Size and custom dimensions. All glass is ultimately cut to a custom size, but some sizes move faster than others depending on material availability.
Supplier availability. Lead times can shift based on current demand and material availability.
Scope of the job. A job involving a single item typically moves faster than one involving multiple components. The more pieces involved, whether that’s glass, hardware, or framing, the longer it tends to take.
Accessibility. Hard-to-reach windows or larger commercial openings may require additional scheduling considerations.
How to Help Speed Things Up
A few things on your end can help move the process along:
Send clear photos of the damage when you request a quote
If you’re able to measure the opening yourself, that can help with a faster, more accurate phone estimate. The closer the measurement, the closer our quote will be, which helps limit surprises later. That said, a technician measuring on-site is always required before anything is ordered, since accuracy at that stage is what the final order depends on.
Let us know if the job is time-sensitive or tied to a specific deadline
Mention if it’s a large window or storefront opening, since larger jobs may require additional scheduling
